A Cape Town bound coal train is see leaving Orange River on 3rd March 1983. The lead loco. is SAR Class 25 4-8-4 No. 3425 with class mate No. 3523 behind. The stop at Orange River was used for fire cleaning and lubrication of trains travelling both north and south. The coal will have come from Witbank Colliery in the Transvaal and is bound for export.
