Bord na Mona locomotives No.LM409 and LM425 set off from the holding point near Shannonbridge on 28th September 2017 with loaded peat wagons bound for the nearby West Offaly power station. The Bord na Mona railway system is one of the largest industrial railways in Europe carrying up to 5 million tonnes annually, and is larger than the main Iarnrod Eireann network.
