Due to a DMU stock shortage in Scotland in 1984 several Class 104 units were transferred from the North West of England. On 5th April 1985 3 car Class 104 unit (104)367 formed of DMCL No. 53510, TBSL No. 59210 and DMCL No. 53565 allocated to Ayr MPD and all in BR blue and grey livery are seen departs from Glasgow Queen Street station. The unit had arrived in Scotland the previous year No. 53510 from Newton Heath, Manchester and the other two vehicles from Buxton MPD. Their stay would be short however as all of the vehicles were stored unserviceable at Ayr Depot during May 1985 just a month after after this photo was taken. The vehicles were officially withdrawn in May 1986 and all were scrapped by Vic Berry Ltd at it's Leicester yard during July 1986.
