On 5th April 1985 Haymarket TMD allocated Class 47/7 No. 47709 'The Lord Provost' eases away from Glasgow Queen Street with a MK3 formed push-pull service for Edinburgh Waverley. Still in BR blue colours, albeit with a silver roof, she would later gain ScotRail blue stripe livery. Converted from Class 47/4 No. 47499 in 1979 she had been delivered new as No. D1942 during June 1966. Displaced by new Class 158 DMU's during late 1990 she was transferred to Old Oak Common TMD later acquiring Network SouthEast livery. No. 47709 was eventually withdrawn from service in Februaey 2007 but stored for several years before being scrapped by Raxstar at Eastleigh Works during September 2012.
