Class 47/4 No. 47550 stabled on Eastfield MPD Glasgow on Sunday 7th May 1978. Allocated new to Old Oak Common MPD as No. D1731 in June 1964 she transferred to the London Midland Region in October 1967 staying until November 1974 when a transfer north to Eastfield MPD occurred. Renumbered under TOPS during February 1975 as No. 47550 at the same time as ETH fitment she was to remain in Scotland at either Eastfield or Inverness depots until March 1991 when moved south to Crewe TMD. Withdrawl came from Immingham TMD during June 1996 and after years of storage No. 47550 was finally cut up by EMT Kingsbury in March 2010. My notes from 1978 state that the loco was being prepared for Royal Train Duties but I have no details as to where and when although strangely No. 47550 was transferred from Eastfield to Inverness within days of this photo being taken in May 1978.
