Sunday 7th May 1978 finds Class 47/4 No. 47550 on Eastfield MPD Glasgow in a Class 47 livery variation that I've never before seen in print. A very recent repaint and embellished with silver buffers, red headstocks, an all white headcode panel and also missing the BR Double arrow symbol make me wonder if a Royal Train working was imminent? No. 47550 was transferred away from Eastfield MPD to Inverness during May 1978, not returning south of the border to Crewe MPD until March 1991. Withdrawal was to be from Immingham TMD in June 1996 and after many years in store No. 47550 was eventually scrapped by EMT Kingsbury during March 2010.
