The sale of Class 14s to private industry led to the British Steel Corporation buying a number for use in moving iron-stone from local quarries to the steelworks at Corby. On 16th October 1976 a pair of locomotives stood in the sidings at Corby; No. D9529 (BSC=61) was waiting for permission to move to the Depot at Pen Green after bringing in a train of ironstone and No. D9520 (BSC=45) was acting as yard shunter.
