Needles, California is a major crew change location for east and westbound trains across the Transcon. There is a steep climb from the town up onto the plains and the Mojave desert. Two BNSF GE locomotives No. 4918 and 1079, accelerate a westbound double stack train past the rear of the Best Western hotel on 22nd March 2007.
