At the time in May 1991, one of DB's flagship Class 103 No. 103.195-4, Co-Co, electric locomotives, approaches Koblenz Hbf from the north, hauling an ICE train. Four prototypes were produced in 1965 and then 145, production Class 103.1's were built by Henschel / Krauss - Maffei and Krupp between 1970 and 1973. They were withdrawn in 2003, although a total of 17, Class 103's have been preserved, with at least five locomotives still operational. Two locomotives are still part of DB rolling stock and are frequently used for test trains.
