This is the Rovos Rail tourist train from Pretoria to Cape Town, which is seen near Laingsburg in the Karoo, in the Western Cape, on 10th November 2024. The train is being hauled by an ex Transnet Class 5E1 No. E1123, which was built by Union Carriage and Wagon Co. at Nigel in South Africa in 1968 / 69. The second loco is No. 2356, which was originally built in 1971 for the Queensland Railway in Australia and later used in Western Australia. This EMD GL 26C diesel locomotive is now part of the Rovos Rail fleet and is based in Pretoria, South Africa.
