Late morning on 30th July 2024 there were problems in the Sheffield area on the Hope Valley line due to a trespass incident. At Chesterfield there were delays and cancellations with, from left to right, GBRF Class 66/7 No. 66710 on an empty aggregate working from Washwood Heath to Tunstead Sidings delayed by over 1½: hours, East Midlands Railway Class 222 No. 222016 routed wrong line into platform 2 to take the ‘Old Road' through Barrow Hill to enter Sheffield from the east and East Midlands Railway Class 158 No. 158806 on a Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street service cancelled from Chesterfield onwards.
