Mining activity at Ffos-y-Ffan opencast ceased on 30th November 2023, but it seems there is still a stockpile of coal on the surface to be moved out by rail. On 15th December 2023, DB Class 66/0 No. 66068 heads another Cwmbargoed to Margam load and is seen on the approach to Llanishen. Such operations are now expected to stop around the end of this year or early next.
