On the 2nd September 2023, Bullied Battle of Britain Pacific No. 34067 'Tangmere' passes Birkett common near Kirkby Stephen hauling the returning Settle and Carlisle Steam Special, from Carlisle to York, promoted by Northern Belle, with steam haulage from Carlisle to Blackburn. WCRC Class 57 No. 57601 'Windsor Castle', is at the rear of this train and will provide diesel haulage from Blackburn to York, via Copy Pit and Hull. Another Class 57, No. 57313 'Scarborough Castle', will replace 34067 'Tangmere' at Blackburn.
