Due to the RMT strike there were no passenger services on the North Stafford Junction to Stoke line on 29th July 2023, but there were 2 workings, both using Colas Rail Class 70 No. 70817, the 05:05 Redcar to Longport loaded spoil, and the 11:35 Longport to Leeds 'light engine' working, seen passing Marston on Dove. It would be another 32 hours before the next train would be seen on this line.
