An unusual event at Appleby on 26th July 2023 as DB Cargo Class 66/0 No. 66040 came to a stop before passing the signal just north of the station at danger working the 1044 New Biggin British Gypsum to Milford West Sidings. It is suspected that the signal was out of operation as all other services during the morning had to do the same.
