On the 17th July 2023, Colas Class 43 power car No. 43290, arrives in the south loop at Newcastle Central station at the head of an infrastructure monitoring working, which began in Darlington and visited Edinburgh and Glasgow before returning to Newcastle. The train reversed here before heading off to Derby. Classmate No. 43277 'Safety Task Force' is at the rear.
