High Cup Nick and Murton Pike can be picked out in and amongst the Pennines as LMS Royal Scot Class No. 46115 'Scots Guardsman' passes Lowfield Farm on 3rd June 2023 having just departed Appleby with the return leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express railtour.
The train arrived into Appleby as 0648 London Euston to Appleby via the WCML and Carlisle Upperby Curve (Scots Guardsman having taken over from 86259 at Carnforth) before the passengers alighted to explore the market town. After just over an hour the train departed as 1516 Appleby to London Euston via the S&C to Preston where 86259 would take over from Scots Guardsman for the return south down the WCML.
