Preserved Class 40 No. 40145 heads the Northern Belle through Kirkby Stephen on 29th April 2023 running as the 15.16 Appleby - Coventry via the S&C having earlier worked from Preston to Appleby via the WCML, Class 86 No. 86401 having worked from Coventry to Preston. The Class 40 was substituting for non availability of the WCRC steam fleet. WCRC Class 57 No. 57313 Scarborough Castle was on the rear.
