On the 19th June 2022, Royal Scot Class No. 46100 'Royal Scot' passes Darlington with the first part of Day 4 of The Capitals Express rail charter from Edinburgh Waverley to York, where steam haulage will give way to diesel haulage, in the form of Class 47's Nos. 47593 'Galloway Princess' and No. 47614, for the final part of the journey from York to London King's Cross.
