LMS Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 48666, in clean condition for the time, passes Breadsall Crossing signal box North of Derby with a local Northbound freight working on 7th August 1965. No. 48666 lasted at Rose Grove until the end of steam in August 1968. Breadsall Crossing was busy with traffic travelling from the A6 to the A61, until the A38 was extended to the M1 in 1968, bypassing the A61, when the road crossing and then the signal box were closed.
