The Swanage branch line was closed by BR on 3rd January 1972. A special 50th Anniversary New Year timetable was operated by the Swanage Railway with the Class 117 DMU. On 3rd January 2022, the 13:30 service from Swanage to Norden departs Corfe Castle.
