The Branch Line Society's The Europort Explorer railtour ran from Edinburgh to York via Carlisle, the S&C and Wakefield Europort on 2nd July 2021. Top and tailed by DB Class 66/0 Nos. 66053 and 66044 as far as Carlisle, DRS Class 37/4 Nos. 37419 and 37423 were added for the 14.34 Carlisle - York leg, which ran into difficulties not long after leaving Carlisle when No. 37419 failed with an overheating engine. After an extensive delay No. 37419 was removed from the train and deposited at Kirkby Thore leaving No. 37423 Spirit of the Lakes to soldier on alone. Working hard and running 160 minutes late No. 37423 passes Long Preston.
