On 31st March 2021, East Midlands Railway Intercity Class 222 No. 222014, passes South Wingfield on a service from St Pancras to Sheffield. Recent tree clearance work by Network Rail has opened up views of the railway and of Wingfield station which is about to undergo a significant restoration project.
