Slowing down as it approaches Basingstoke on a damp August morning, LNER A4 Class Pacific No. 60009 "Union of South Africa" heads the outbound Dorset Coast Express on 9th August 2018. Due to the risk of lineside fires, assistance was provided in the form of WCR Class 47 No. 47760 which is immediately behind the A4. On the rear is Class 47 diesel No. 47580 'County of Essex'.
