Due to a line side fire outside London Waterloo station on 11th December 2017 there was considerable disruption to South Western Railway Services. To help passengers hoping to catch the 15.30 service to Portsmouth which was heavily delayed there was the very rare occurrence of the 11.27 Manchester Piccadilly - Bournemouth Cross Country Trains service calling at Eastleigh. This was to pick up passengers so they could change at Southampton Central onto the Portsmouth services from there. The unit is class 220 No. 220034
