At the time, one of the latest M5000s to be delivered - No. 3098 departs from the new look Manchester Victoria with a service to Ashton-under-Lyme, via Piccadilly on 17th June 2016. The two lines on the left currently terminate at Exchange Square, but will form the Second City Crossing through to St Peters Square from early 2017.
