Class 31 locomotives are now not regularly seen on test trains, so it was noteworthy on 11th February 2016 when Network Rail Class 31 No. 31233, fitted with high intesity lights for infrastructure inspection, lead the STP 09:52 Derby RTC to Reading and return test train, seen as it passes North Stafford Junction on 11th February 2016, with Network Rail Class 37 No. 97301 at the rear of the train.
