On 5th June 1988 and just two months from withdrawl CL 45/1 No. 45103 'Griffon' is stabled on it's home Depot Tinsley, Sheffield. Built at BR Crewe Works as Type 4 No. D116, it entered service during September 1961. Renumbered as Class 45/1 No. 45103 after being ETH equipped and converted for dual braking she ran nameless for almost all of her career. With the rundown of the class Tinsley MPD hand painted names onto several of their allocation and the 'Griffon' name on No. 45103 can be seen towards the rear of the locomotive complete with a Tinsley Depot code inside a white rose of Yorkshire and a 41A shedplate. Retired during August 1988, it was transferred from Tinsley to Glasgow by rail in March 1990 and scrapped the same month by M C Metals.
