Built by the Hunslet Engine Co. Ltd. Leeds in 1882 for Penrhyn Quarries Ltd. Charles spent its working life hauling slate and men over the owners "main line" between Bethseda and Port Penrhyn. It was place on permanent loan to the National Trust by Penrhyn Quarries Ltd. in 1963 and is displayed in the museum at Penrhyn Castle near Bangor, North Wales on 13th October 2012.
