The Brass plaque records the demise of class A4 No. 4469 Sir Ralph Wedgewood (originally named Gadwall)on the track in York North Shed on which it stood when destroyed during the Baedeker raid on the night of 28/29 April 1942. This track is now within the Great Hall of York NRM and is occupied by the sectioned Merchant Navy Class 35069 Ellerman Lines. Also destroyed nearby was Raven class B16 No. 925.
