On 19th November 2011, Spitfire Railtours ran 'The Edinburgh Explorer' from Preston to Edinburgh (and Fife Circle mini tour). In charge of the main tour were Class 50s No. 50049 'Defiance' and 50044 'Exeter', here sitting at Preston after its 308 mile journey from Edinburgh via York and Manchester.
