On 9th April 2011, East Midlands Trains Class 222 No. 222001 was used on Liverpool to Nottingham diagrams to cope with Grand National passengers that took place at Aintree. Here, 222001 arrives into Liverpool South Parkway working the 1545 Nottingham to Liverpool Lime Street via Sheffield and Manchester. Usually, this working is formed of 2 car Class 158s.
