The ELR held a Winter Day Gala on 8th January 2011 using its home-based fleet in single and multiple combinations. Class 33/1 No. 33109 was paired with recently painted Class 47 No. D1501 as the pair climbed through Heaps Bridge en route to Heywood with the 14:00 service from Rawtenstall.
