With a what was then typical quota of 'clag' from the Paxman Valenta powertrain, Intercity liveried HST No 43195 'British Red Cross' lifts the 1250 Cross Country service to York out of Leeds. It is seen passes GNER liveried Class 91 pioneer No. 91001 which is waiting to propel the 1305 service to King's Cross. Today 43195 has had its Valenta engines replaced by the new MTU powertrain and it is now operated by First Great Western. No. 91001 has been refurbished and renumbered 91101 and still operates on the East Coast Main Line.
