In 1997 the Class 60 fleet was undergoing a change in terms of liveries and naming, due to the privatisation of the railway and the splitting of its various parts into seperate businesses. In this view taken at Beckfoot in the Lune Valley on the West Coast Main Line, Class 60 No. 60031 is still wearing its original Trainload Metals livery, but it has lost its 'Ben Lui' nameplates. It is seen on 5th September 1997 heading north with a rake of 2 wheel oil tanks, probably bound for Jarrow. Today, No. 60031 is in EWS livery and in interim period was renamed 'ABP Connect', a name which it has since had removed. It is currently one of the 20 Class 60 locomotives which have been placed on sale, having been withdrawn in March 2009 with engine defects.
