A Preston to Ormskirk service arrives at Rufford station on 21st August 2010. The loop is the only passes place on this line, although it is not required for the normal pattern of service. This is also the end of the electric key token section from Midge Hall. From here to Ormskirk it is train staff working. Network Rail has recently suggested that it may remove the loop here and automate the level crossings here and at Midge Hall to try and speed up the service.
