200 Class 40 locomotives were built between 1958 and 1962, of these only 7 survived into preservation. One of these is 40118, which is shown here at Tyseley in a rather forlorn condition, with it would appear, alot of work still to be done to make this locomotive operational. Most other preserved 40's are operational, with at least one (40145) able to run on the main line for tours etc. 14th April 2008
