The damage caused by the fire at Nottingham Station on 12th January Railway Heritage Trust
Damage to Nottingham station following the fire that took place on 12th January is reasonably localised and had limited effect on the heritage structure.
The blaze, which firefighters described as the worst blaze in the city for 20 years, started in the ladies toilets around 06:30.
At its height, around 60 firefighters were on scene, with the fire subsequently spreading to the concourse and station roof. A visit by Railway Heritage Trust Executive Director, Andy Savage, on Thursday revealled that the damage was not as severe as first thought, and Mr Savage paid tribute to the professional handling of the fire by Nottingham Fire & Rescue, which limited the damage, and resulted in it being relatively easy to repair.
