The first of the DRS Class 68 fleet ventured onto the National Network on 4th February, just four weeks after arriving in the country through Southampton Docks.

Class 68 No. 68002, now named 'Intrepid', made its first move, when it was towed as part of a consist that included 11 coaches behind DBS Class 90 No. 90020 Collingwood between Carlisle and Crewe Gresty Lane. The reason for the 'hauled' run is understood to be part of the testing procedure prior to movements under its own power over the coming weeks.

A total of two round trips, timed for 100mph running, between Carlisle and Crewe are planned for 4th-6th February.
