CHANCE TO SEE FOUR A4 LOCOMOTIVES AT SHILDON

With the arrival back on the shores of A4s Nos. 60008 and 60010, the opportunity presents itself to reunite the three BR Green Liveried A4s for a once in a lifetime opportunity.

No. 60010 will be taken to York after this event to be repainted into LNER Garter Blue ready for the events in 2013. No. 60010 is still in careworn but original BR livery as repainted by Crewe in 1966

Organiser Martin Creese says the original plan was for an NRM event but with delays in shipping the proposed dates were lost. "I asked the question of whether we could still do something and there is an amazing groundswell of support to make this happen. I cannot thank WCRC enough for their yes to the movement of 60009 and John Cameron for waiving any steaming fees on 60009. Our contribution is to cover the movement costs and coal of 60009."

To achieve this there will be two evenings at Shildon in the yard with the iconic line up which will only be available to participants. Jason Cross has kindly agreed to provide the floodlighting and the event will run from 16.00 to roughly 22.00 each day to hopefully give everyone the chance of getting the shots. We will try to deploy burning rags to bring life to the scene, and headboards as appropriate.

If you would like to attend please e-mail Martin Creese with an absolute commitment to attend and ensure that the cheque is in the very next post, by the deadline of Monday 8th October. West Coast Railway Company needs to be given instructions that the movement costs can be covered. If the event doesn’t happen no cheques will be cashed

The cost per night is £60 or £110 for both. Cheques made payable to Science Museum Group. If you are a UK taxpayer and would complete the attached Gift Aid declaration that would be really helpful. Please also include an SAE as I will send you a numbered confirmation.

The Dream Piece!
We could add No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley to the line-up as well. If you would be willing to contribute more to make this happen please send an additional donation cheque. If we can only cover the move of No. 60009 this will not be cashed. No. 60007 is on offer on the same terms as No. 60009, movement costs only.
