Class 40 No. D345 made its long-awaited return to main line duty on 30th September 2016 when it collected stock from Carnforth that was to be used on an excursion from the ELR to Stratford on Avon the following day. As part of the stock move the train was operated as a Carnforth - Buxton - ELR charter which was noted passing Euxton on its southbound journey.
