Steam finished at Sunderland South Dock Shed at the end September 1967 and although the roundhouse was demolished the running shed was used to stable diesel locomotives used in the County Durham coalfields for many years on 13th December 1986 finds, from left to right, Class 56 No. 56127, and No. 56133 followed by Class 37/0 No. 37139 and No. 37252 stabled for the weekend. Comparing the building to steam days nothing has really changed since steam left although the brickwork is a little cleaner. The shed was finally closed and demolished in the late 1980's and the branch to the docks mothballed in 2001/2002. As for the locomotives in this image all have now been scrapped No. 37252 in August 2002 No. 3713 9th February 2004 No. 56127 around September 2010 and finally No. 56133 by March 2012.
