The boiler of GWR 2-8-2T No. 7229 is seen being lifted from the frames at Castlecroft Goods Yard, Bury on 14th April 1990. Built at Swindon Works as 2-8-0T No. 5264 during 1926 she was rebuilt as 2-8-2T No. 7229 in 1935 continuing in service until withdrawn from Newport (Ebbw Junction) Shed in August 1964. Sold for disposal to Woodhams Barry scrapyard, 20 years later in October 1984, she would become a loco to leave the yard for preservation, initially moving to the Plym Valley Railway, Devon. Although relocated to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury by April 1990 she remains in store dismantled as we near the end of 2015.
