Some 28 hours into their 2225 mile journey, Amtrak GE P40DC No. 196 and classmate No. 815 stand at Havre, Montana on 20th August 2015 with the Empire Builder service from Chicago to Seattle and Portland. This train was terminated at the next point of call due to concerns about the forest fires that were raging across Montana and Washington, with passengers travelling through to Seattle and Portland being bussed 400 miles through the night to Spokane where onward rail connections were provided.
