Stuffed and mounted on an isolated section of track adjacent to the Amtrak station at Havre, Montana is Great Northern Railway S2 class 4-8-4 No. 2584, seen on 20th August 2015. This locomotive is the last survivor of a class of 14 examples built by Baldwin in 1930 to haul the Empire Builder and Orient Limited transcontinental passenger services running between Chicago and the US north west coast. These services were dieselised in 1947, and the S2's had only another 8 years work on freight services before withdrawal in 1955. No. 2584 has now been on static display at Havre since 1964.
