BR Class 45 No. 45131 forms the 12:17 Birmingham New Street to Newcastle service on 19th January 1983 at Bromford Bridge. New from Crewe Works in October 1961 as D124. the locomotive was to survive until September 1986 and was cut up at Vic Berry's of Leicester in August 1988. The M6 motorway provides the backdrop to a scene long since gone, now dominated by a local road scheme. The cooling towers of Nechells Power Station are now but a memory.
