Class 33 No. 33115 was extensively modified with Eurostar power car bogies and used as a test bed for the Channel Tunnel project, and reclassified as a DVT and numbered 83301, seen here passing Clapham Junction on 4th June 1990 on a test train with its usual partner Class 73/2 No. 73215 'London Chamber of Commerce', both in Intercity livery. The large electric arc captured was a problem with the pick-up shoes and was a fire risk. After the project concluded No. 83301 was bought for 1p and parts used on preserved Class 33 No. 33108.
