During the early summer of 1951 almost brand new BR Britannia Class 7 No. 70005 John Milton was involved in a series of controlled road tests between Petterill Bridge Junction Carlisle and Skipton North Junction and return. On one of those tests 70005 complete with the ex L&YR Dynamometer Car sits in the Up Goods Line at Skipton North Junction having deposited its 20 coach test load and prepares to leave attached to the Dynamometer Car to turn on the Shipley Triangle. LMS Class 5 No. 45272 and a rebuilt Royal Scot overtake it on the Up Thames-Clyde Express on an unrecorded date in June 1951
