LNER Class A4 No. 4468 Mallard departs from Skipton on a York-S&C- Newcastle-Eaglescliffe special on 16th July 1988. Note the steam age water cranes still in existence on Platforms 3 & 4 and the Down Goods Road and Skipton Station South Signalbox all of which were swept away on the Aire Valley Electrification. I spent endless hours on this bridge in my youth in the 1940's and early 1950's as I was born in Skipton.
