The unusual pairing of a Class 20 and a Class 47 took place on 4th April 2014 as BR Railfreight-liveried No. 20118 'Saltburn by the Sea' and recently re-painted and hired in by GBRf No. 47843 'Vulcan' head the 15:13 Toton North Yard to Crewe Basford Hall engineers train. The pairing is thought to give a similar performance to that of a single Class 66.
